CPM

Fans of the old Capital Hi-Q series will have plenty to rejoice over. For the last 9 months or so, the folks at Carlin Production Music (CPM) have been doing a phenomenal job of restoring and reissuing the music from this library with composers like William Loose, Emil Cadkin, Philip Green, and Jack Cookery. Granted, the songs have all been renamed. But at this point, I've almost come to accept it as part of the nature of the beast. And given the alternative (paying top dollar for scratched and worn out records....IF you can even find them!) I guess I can't complain. They're up to collection #5 right now and after hearing all of them, I can hardly wait to see what gets released next. Like all library music, you can't just walk into a store and buy this stuff. Then again how many people actually listen to this stuff anyways? Just the few of us. Thank God for the internet, heh? Anyhow, most of the music from those 5 collections (CPM-1, CPM-2, CPM-3, CPM-4, and CPM-5) are included here. A majority of the links (many of them are under 10 seconds long) were NOT included along with the 30 second versions of songs which are already on here. This would've been redundant after awhile. What you do get is 184 tracks. Enough for a long drive, or just a lazy Sunday afternoon at home. Here's a PDF of the track listings. Everything is tagged, but I didn't number them. So the songs will play in alphabetical order by default. I think you'll enjoy this one. Tis indeed. Now I'm waiting for either Steve Carras or Yowp to tell me some of the original names of these songs. I'd love to know! (especially "Average Day"....a beautiful melody, that one is).

Been a while since here. Not a lot time since I have been job hunting. All that hope and change is kicking my economic tail.

Good luck. Things are only getting worse. We're SO screwed.

Rod, sorry I'm responding so late to this.

The 'Average Day' cue you have is 3-OK-318 CHILDREN-TAIL ENDING from Hi-Q reel L-71.

Since you asked, the other 'Average Day' cue on that site is really 4-OK-357 CHILDREN from the same reel. Oh, you didn't ask.

The site has a bunch of stuff from reels L-71 and 72, and 97 and 98. There's also some later Loose stuff from L-135 and L-136. And there's Capitol Media Music material I don't have.

Thanks Yowp. This compilation basically represents what I have on my MP3 player when I'm driving. As beautiful a melody as it may be, that slower version of 'Average Day' would probably put me to sleep. Hence the reason I didn't include it. Geeze, I'd love to spend a day sifting through YOUR record collection!

Well, I don't know about that. But thanks for the kind words. I wish I had the time to post new stuff every day like some people. I do what I can. Now 'Lounge Legends' is a site that will make ANYONE envious!

Wonderful stuff here, thank you. Three of the tracks don't seem to be listed on the PDF track listing document. They are...'Rocking Guitar', 'Workplace' and 'Workshop'. I was wondering if you could tell me which of the five collections each is from, i.e. 001:Newsreel..., 002:Big Band..., 003:Panorama..., 004:Kitsch Beat..., 005: Detective Jazz...I had to convert the files and the tag info is lost also, so i'd appreciate it. Thanks again. Very nice job.
